Simplicity

Sunday 29 December 2013

"Possessions, outward success, publicity, luxury — to me these have always been contemptible. I believe that a simple and unassuming manner of life is best for everyone, best for both the body and the mind.”
— Albert Einstein

It's a Sunday night, and I'm reading and drinking tea. My Christmas tree illuminates my living room, and everything is quiet. Most importantly, I don't have that surge of anxiety creeping into my chest like it does every Sunday night, as I think of the dozens of emails I've failed to answer over the weekend, the exhausting commute, and the hundreds of tiny problems I'm going to need to solve in the week ahead. Some of them will be work related, others will be the stress of juggling side projects, and many of them will just be related to time — When will I find time to do laundry, a grocery shop, a blog post? It's liberating to be away from the stress, even temporarily. I feel lighter. Things seem simpler. I feel happier.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday, full of good food, family and friends, good books, and relaxation. Cheers to a simpler 2014!

Hello, I have browsed most of your posts. This post is probably where I got the most useful information for my research. Thanks for posting, maybe we can see more on this. Are you aware of any other websites on this subject.
